A study done by TUV Rheindland on behalf of Epson.
Here an independent investigation is done into the costs of a print-out between different Desktop inkjet label printers.
In this case, 3 printers are compared with each other that fall within the same segment.
This clearly shows that the Epson is actually cheaper to use than, for example, the Primera and VIP color that have been tested.
The research is still from 2014 but is certainly still relevant.

The Epson ColorWorks TM-C3500 is at least 50% cheaper than the 2nd place in terms of ink consumption.
